We’ve made it easier than ever for students to launch careers behind the business and information systems that power healthcare.

Clarkson College received approval from the Higher Learning Commission to offer two bachelor’s degrees at reduced credit. This means students can now pursue a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Administration and Healthcare Management at 90 credit hours, allowing full-time students to earn their degree in six or seven semesters.

Why the change?

Clarkson College developed a reduced credit bachelor program to simplify the path for students to earn degrees in Health Information Management and Healthcare Management, reducing the financial obligation by approximately $21,000.

We are now the first in the nation to offer a reduced credit Bachelor of Science in Health Information Administration, and the first in Nebraska to offer a reduced credit Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management. Both programs are offered exclusively online.

The career outlook

Demand for bachelor’s prepared students in Healthcare Management is expected to grow 29% through 2033, with careers including medical and health services managers, medical staff relations representatives, medical billing supervisors, and insurance analysts. Students with a Bachelor's degree in Health Information Administration can pursue careers in healthcare compliance and auditing, reviewing clinical and financial documentation to ensure accuracy, support regulatory requirements, and drive process improvement.

A commitment to quality education

The programs with Clarkson College maintain the same academic rigor and quality as traditional bachelor’s degrees while eliminating unnecessary elective coursework. Core major coursework, general education requirements, faculty, advising, and student support services remain unchanged. Students who complete either reduced-credit bachelor’s degree can pursue direct admission into the Clarkson College Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program.
