PTA Senior Garners Top APTA Student Scholarship Award

Congratulations to Jared Mattley

The American Physical Therapy Association, the nation's foremost organization representing PT professionals and students, has selected a Clarkson College senior as a scholarship recipient. Jared Mattley will formally be awarded a 2026 Mary McMillan Scholarship Award at the APTA’s annual conference to be held in July in Portland, Oregon. This award acknowledges and honors outstanding physical therapist and physical therapist assistant students who are nearing the completion of their respective programs of study.

“My future patients do not deserve to receive anything short of exceptional treatment,” Jared stated. “An extremely valuable piece in my educational experience has been my personal patient experience. Having seen multiple orthopedic physicians and several PT’s myself, I can better relate to patients and can have empathy for patients when their quality of life has been drastically impacted.”

Jared is the eighth Clarkson College PTA student in program history to receive this award which was instituted in 1963. He is a native of Papillion, Nebraska, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Upon graduation, he plans to serve as a PTA at OrthoNebraska in Omaha where he has worked as a rehab aide while completing his degree at Clarkson College.
