Nursing Students Featured on KMTV during Wellness Event

In July, Undergraduate Nursing students from Clarkson College volunteered at a health and wellness event at the Open Door Mission Garland Thoompson Men's Center in Omaha, Neb. KETV was there to speak with event organizers about the benefits of the event for attendees.

Students created presentations about common issues such as blood sugar, blood pressue, sun and heat safety, and safe use of over-the-counter medications.

"They've created things that are particular to, affect our homeless population. For example, diabetes is a really really big problem. Diabetes, blood pressure. All those kinds of things they're learning how to do and our guests really need to know that information,” said Steve Frazee, Chief Impact Officer at Open Door Mission.
