Clarkson College President Dr. James Hauschildt on the Current Need for Nurses

Clarkson College, along with our educational partner Nebraska Medicine, is helping to educate the next generation of nurses to help on the front lines of the pandemic.

Clarkson College president Dr. James Hauschildt, who is also a registered nurse, spoke with Channel 3 News in Omaha about what effect the pandemic is having both on the nursing shortage in the state, and in enrollment numbers. Not only is he seeing the demand for nurses grow, he also notes that it has been a trend for years.

"It's a trend that I've seen over the past 10 years and then the pandemic has accelerated that need," Dr. Hauschildt said. Watch the complete interview here.

To help recruit more nurses, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has launched a website to help place nurses in areas of need. Alumni and current nursing students can visit the site to learn more about the new initiative and learn about career opportunities.

You can learn more about nursing education options including RN to BSN, RN to MSN, BSN to DNP, MSN and DNP options on the Clarkson College website.
