Clarkson College Announces Leadership Change, Interim President

The Clarkson College Board of Directors accepted the resignation of President Tony Damewood, Ph.D. effective February 1, 2019. Dr. Damewood has served as the President of the College since 2016. In his announcement to faculty and staff, Dr. Damewood stated, “My 20 years at Clarkson College has been very rewarding. I am proud of where the college is currently, and expect it to continue to be a leader in preparing high quality, compassionate health care providers.”

The Clarkson College Board of Directors appointed Aubray Orduña, Ed.D. as interim President. Working in multiple capacities at Nebraska Medicine since 1975, Dr. Orduña has been a faculty member of Clarkson College since 1978. While at Clarkson College, she has held multiple positions including Director of Diversity Services, Director of the Practical Nursing Program, and, most recently, the Dean of Nursing. Dr. Orduña was also instrumental in the implementation of the Gateway to Success Minority Nursing Scholarship for Clarkson College students and is a long-standing and awarded member of the academic and health care community.

“The Mission of Clarkson College is focused on our students,” Dr. Orduña stated. “That Mission and those who pursue an education here is going to be central to my efforts. By ensuring support for this institution, its faculty and staff, the College will continue to excel in preparing students to professionally provide high quality, ethical and compassionate health care services.”
