College to Host First Annual Spirit Week Celebration

To celebrate the Clarkson College Values of Caring, Integrity, Excellence, Commitment and Learning, the College is hosting its first annual Spirit Week on Sept. 24-28. Each day of the week will honor one of our core Values and provide community members the opportunity to celebrate and connect with one another. 

CARING – Monday, Sept. 24 

Clarkson College will display 800 flags near 42ndand Dodge Streets in celebration of the Value of Caring. Each flag represents 10 hours of volunteer service completed by students, staff and alumni. 

Clarkson College will also host a donation drive to benefit the Women’s Center for Advancement (WCA) in Omaha. From Sept. 24-28, the College community will place bins around campus where students, faculty and staff  may place their donations for the WCA. The organization is in need of personal items including shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, feminine  products, soap and lotion.

INTEGRITY – Tuesday, Sept. 25

“Games with Integrity” will take place in the Courtyard on campus from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. College community members can participate in carnival games, trivia, and obstacles courses and enjoy a free picnic lunch with burgers and hot dogs. 

EXCELLENCE – Wednesday, Sept. 26

Faculty and staff will host a Community Health Fair in the Green Space located at 41stand Farnam Streets from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. College faculty and staff will provide information on community health resources. The event is open to the public, and attendees can enjoy free snacks while they visit various health care booths. Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Green Space. 

COMMITMENT – Thursday, Sept. 27 

Alumni will gather on campus to kick off the Alumni Weekend celebration. All alumni are welcome to attend the events including brunch, campus tour, Heritage Garden walk and dedication ceremony, and Ollie the Trolley tour through historical Omaha. 

LEARNING – Friday, Sept. 28 

Alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members may attend an educational event “Workplace Violence in the Health Care Setting” in Howard Hall at 8 a.m. The cost to attend is $20 for Alumni Association members, $10 for Clarkson College students and $40 for all other professionals. Please complete the registration formand return to Alumni Association, Clarkson College, 101 South 42ndStreet, Omaha, Ned. 68131 by Sept. 18. 

Spirit Week will be an ongoing tradition held each year during the last full week of September when community members can celebrate the shared history of Clarkson College and reflect on our Values.
